EMPOWERING GIRLS TO LIVE THEIR BEST LIVES

Youth Empowerment Services, Inc. (Y.E.S.), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has been an integral part of Berkeley, Charleston, and Dorchester Counties since 1999. Y.E.S. was conceived in the heart of Roslin J. Fields, M.Ed., a former middle school teacher and foster parent.

Since its inception, Y.E.S. has recruited and trained over 500 adult and peer mentors and volunteers who have faithfully served over 5,000 youths and adults across South Carolina and beyond through various programs, activities, college-prep activities, conferences, workshops, and community events. Y.E.S. programs and activities are specifically designed for at-risk middle and high school girls to empower them with strategies and resources to help them make healthy decisions that will enhance their mental, social, spiritual and emotional health, and well-being.

CREATING CULTURE

Girls are surrounded by positive adults and peers who serve as motivational speakers and role models in our community. Many of our mentors are women who themselves have risen from poverty and adversity to become productive members of their communities. Many of the girls who have participated in our programs are currently leading productive lives and report that being a part of our mentoring program is a contributing factor to their success in life.

Y.E.S. programs are successful due to the consistency in our approach and message as well as the collaboration, respect and confidence we have received from communities. Y.E.S. continually receives requests and invitations for training and support for programs for at-risk youth. We offer mentoring programs in schools, foster homes, community centers and faith-based organizations. We also offer an annual Dream Girls Conference which attracts nearly 2,000 girls and adults from South Carolina and beyond.

Girls remain in our programs for an average of two consecutive years. Our evaluations also reveal that over 85% of our participants successfully complete our programs.
